About Me

Q. What inspired you to become a guide?

My father, who is also an archaeologist, inspired me to become a guide through his own passion for history and storytelling. Growing up, he would take me on countless trips, sharing fascinating stories about the places we visited and the people who lived there. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he taught me to see the world with curiosity and wonder. His deep knowledge and love for different cultures made me want to share these experiences with others, just as he did with me. Being a guide allows me to carry on his legacy and connect with people through the stories that have shaped our heritage.

Q. What do you love most about Lisbon?

I absolutely adore Lisbon, as it's a city that beautifully blends historical charm with modern vibrancy. Different colours, aromas, and flavours are in every corner. The rich cultural heritage, stunning azulejo architecture, and scenic views along the Tagus River are captivating. Additionally, the city is a melting pot of diverse cultures, which has greatly influenced the cuisine that I am so passionate about. All these factors make my everyday life so exciting, and makes me feel blessed to call this city, home.

Q. What's your favorite story to tell on tour?

I always like to show the magic of the calçada portuguesa, the art of the Portuguese pavement. But what I like even more, are the travelers’ reactions when I tell them how we sit down and count the people who fall down from the calçada.

Q. What's one of your favorite memories from a tour?

An unforgettable moment was when one of my travelers from Australia started to cry out of happiness when he was telling me his experience with fado music. I always encourage people to share their experiences and emotions with me, which is something that I truly appreciate and is the reason why I love my work so much.

My Insider Tips for Lisbon

Q. What's the best time of year to enjoy Lisbon?

Of course during my birthday month in May when Lisbon is decorated with the iconic Jacaranda trees. During the blooming season, typically from late May to early June, the Jacarandas paint the cityscape with vibrant shades of purple, creating a captivating sight. Additionally, you'll likely experience sunny days perfect for exploring the city's attractions and enjoying outdoor activities.

Q. What do you tell your visiting friends to see in your city?

I tell them to visit historic monuments such as Carmo convent, Jeronimos Monastery and the National Tile Museum. Also I recommend other fun activities such as riding the tram 28 or even visiting the Embaxaida, a 19th century palace which has been transformed into a shopping mall showcasing Portuguese designers.

Q. What about the culture in your city should people not miss?

The magic of Lisbon is its multi-diversity. In my opinion, people should not miss losing themselves in the small narrow streets of each neighborhood, as those are the places where the authenticity of Lisbon hides. From the smell of freshly washed clothes hanging out of the balconies, to amazing aromas from freshly baked Asian or African delicacies, the whole city is unique thanks to its aromas and flavours!

Q. What are some unmissable foods and drinks?

In my opinion nobody can leave Lisbon without trying the most popular sweet of the country, pastel de nata, without accompanying it with a glass of the iconic Port wine. Then departing Lisbon without trying codfish, presunto pata negra and garlic shrimps should be sacrilegious!!
